Jean Renoir
est un réalisateur et scénariste français, né à Paris le 15 septembre 1894 et mort à Beverly Hills le 12 février 1979.
Deuxième fils du peintre Auguste Renoir, ses films ont profondément marqué les mutations du cinéma français entre 1930et 1950, avant d'ouvrir la porte à la Nouvelle Vague du cinéma français.
Réalisateur prolifique il à réaliser plus de 30 films avec des succès divers.
La Chienne (1931) marque un tournant dans l'oeuvre de Jean Renoir. C'est un des premiers films français parlants, adapté d'un roman de Georges de La Fouchardière , La Chienne offre à Michel Simon un rôle de petit-bourgeois jaloux, assassin et veule.
