Vincent d'Indy

né à Paris le 27 mars 1851 et mort à Paris le 2 décembre 1931
De 1862 à 1865, il étudie le piano avec Louis Diémer (1843-1919) et commence dès 1864 l'harmonie auprès d'Albert Lavignac (1846-1916), qui lui conseillera en 1867 de commencer l'instrumentation . Jusqu'en 1878 d'Indy sera organiste à Saint-Leu-La-Forêt, timbalier remplaçant à l'Opéra-Comique ainsi que chef de choeurs et timbalier aux Concerts Colonne.
En 1886, il compose sa «Symphonie sur un chant montagnard français» souvent utilisée pour illustrer des documentaires sur la nature. En 1891, d'Indy crée son Quatuor à cordes nº 1 aux accents beethovéniens.
En 1894, il participe avec Charles Bordes, Alexandre Guilmant, l'abbé Noyer, l'abbé Chappuy et l'abbé Perruchot, à un événement qui a marqué l'histoire de la musique française : la fondation de la Schola Cantorum. «Société de propagande pour la divulgation des chefs-d'oeuvre religieux».

From 1862 to 1865 he studied piano with Louis Diémer (1843-1919) and began playing the piano in 1864 with Albert Lavignac (1846-1916), who advised him in 1867 to begin playing the instrument. Until 1878 d'Indy was organist in Saint-Leu-La-Forêt, substitute timpanist at the Opéra-Comique and choirmaster and timpanist at the Concerts Colonne.
